It is highly recommended that this is the very first step in the home buying process.
A pre-qualification letter is required to write offers and sometimes even to tour homes. Mortgage Loan Originators provide these letters after they’ve had the opportunity to evaluate a buyer’s individual goals and circumstances. A pre-qualification letter from a reputable local lender helps buyers shop with confidence and it is also one of the most important items a seller will consider when reviewing offers.
*To get started you won’t need to run credit or provide the documents mentioned below. However, you will need those things if you want to be fully pre-approved prior to making offers, or once you have an accepted offer and formally open a mortgage application.

*Any documents with numbered pages have to be turned in with ALL pages, even if a page is blank. For example, if the first page of a document says “1 of 4” that means all 4 pages need to be turned in, even if a page is blank.
Getting pre-qualified should be your first priority, but there are many important steps to successfully obtaining a mortgage. Below is a rough outline of what you can expect along the way.
*You will most likely have the option to use a wire transfer if you prefer. Your attorney will provide instructions.
